October 14-16th.
We started our preschool week by finishing up our unit on helpers in the community. The kids took over the basketball court near by and drew an entire city that represented many of the community helpers they have been talking about. Christopher drew our fire truck rushing to a building on fire. Ryan drew our farm (I helped with the tractor) and Mi Na and Eisley worked together on the bakery, church and the must needed ballet studio. I helped fill in the city with a post office, fire station,Wegmans, and some houses. The preschoolers loved drawing with chalk and were so creative with their drawings.

And of course the ballet studio. Mi Na and Eisley also shared their ballet moves with us.
Today we learned the number 2.
We then went over the last community worker in the unit and that was the cross guard. We made stop signs for some later activities and Christopher and Ryan showed me how they say STOP!
Their favorite part of the day and most talked about was the snack. They loved making stop light cookies that features red, yellow, and green M&M's and Skittles. They were tasty!
We all headed back our newly drawn preschool city and each took turns playing the part of a crossing guard and then a few games of stop and go just for fun.
Wednesday we started a new unit all about pumpkins! Our letter for the day was O! We went over any and all o-words we could come up with. It proved to be more difficult than it sounds. These cute preschoolers are become very good at painting and will trace the letter and then continue to color in the entire page.
I loved the conversation between Mi Na and Christopher when Mi Na used the word difficult and Christopher turned and said, "do you even know what that means?" Mi Na's response, "no, but I can still use it." I love all their little conversations during preschool.

| for snack we made jack-o-lantern oranges and fishes. |
We used a small pumpkin for a game of hide and seek. They were always so happy when it was their turn to hide the pumpkin and then stand back and watch their friends search for it.
 |
| The piano was off limits after Eisley hid it here. ;) |
For math we counted pumpkins in the pumpkin patch by adding and subtracting a little at a time and they glued on their preferred number of pumpkins.
Thursday. We had fun with the letter P today and picked items out of a bag that all began with the letter P. We missed Ryan today but sent home lots of crafts for him to do another time when not so many cousins are around to play with. :)
 |
| Eisely created an umbrella hut for the kids to play in. |
Snack time! The kids helped make pumpkin muffins. They were great kitchen helpers!
 |
| Mi Na and Christopher both preferred chocolate chip with their muffins. |
While the muffins were cooking we played pumpkin seed sprouting. We used the poem from the book and made up a fun game of our own and a perfect occupier while those muffins finished.
 |
| I'm a little pumpkin seed, white and round. Dig a little hole and put me in the ground. First comes the rain and then the sun comes out. Wait a while and then I'll sprout. (tune of I'm a little tea pot) |

Our on going art project through out today was the pumpkin insides. They first painted, cut yarn, and glued. They almost went home dry. ;)
Math patterns with pumpkins ended our day.
