Though it was indeed ridiculous that they didn't cancel school on our first day back, it actually worked out perfect for our lesson because we were talking about SNOW!! The kids were so excited to spend the morning out in the snow, and they had a blast digging and sledding down the hill. It was so fun to watch them, and so nice that CJ was there to help out.
| They were equally excited to come in for hot cocoa with all the fixings. |
We talked about how snowflakes are all unique and decorated and cut out several snowflakes. I actually had to help them cut out their glittered snowflake because the paper was too thick, but then I got out some coffee filters and they were able to cut out their own snowflakes from that. We actually cut out a huge pile of snowflakes and I promised their would be a surprise with them then next school day. Ryan wasn't too thrilled about using glitter, and his face in this picture is priceless. |
| Logan was so excited to be a part of school! |
Because of all the snow days we were out til the next week, and then we didn't have Eisley. One day I invited my neighbor Liam to join us. All the boys had fun together til it was time to walk Liam to the bus for Kindergarten. Apparently our school is so fun, that it was all Liam could talk about when he got home from school! |
| We had fun talking about all the fun things you can do with snow and they made great snowmen and sleds. |
| Covering the letter "N" with Newspaper. |
| Christopher found a shortcut. No little pieces for him! |
We had fun with our snack on this day with snowman cheesesticks and snow!!!
They thought this was pretty fun and the liked eating the "snow" as fast as they could when it came out. I made another batch with the lid on and some olive oil and salt. Ryan said he preferred the regular kind. |
| This was the surprise I had for them. I'm sad Eisley never got to see it. Maybe I will leave it up longer. |
| They had lots of fun with these masks. Can you guess who is who? |
These two cute boys are so smart, I had to find way to make every game and activity more challenging. We played a winter scene match game, and since they were so good at it we turned it into a race where we timed ourselves. We learned that they are faster as a team of 3, than as individuals, even with Logan being a little slower than them. I also cut up their puzzle into twice as many pieces to make it more of a challenge for them.
We had a vote of which they prefer more, gloves or mittens. The consensus was that they couldn't make up their minds. My vote was mittens.
We read the story "the Mitten" and the boys had lots of fun decorating their own mittens. Ryan was very focused on doing a pattern of stripes. |
Christopher was going for a more eclectic look. After reading the mitten story the boys all agreed that if all those animals tried to get into a real mitten it would tear the mitten to pieces. |
I don't have a picture of it, but we also read the story stone soup. Actually, we acted it out. Christopher was the stranger, and Ryan was the villagers. Logan was the kids when the time was right. They thought that was a lot of fun. Then we made our own bowl of soup. Surprisingly, the boys unanimously agreed that tomato soup is their favorite. I concur.
| With such a small group, even doing double days, we still had lots of extra time. The boys voluntarily spent that time reading on the couch. I love it. |
| And just because that mug is too cute, I had to post it. |
